2023: Top 5 Video Strategies for Calgary Business

What role is video content playing in your business today?

With video making up 82% of consumer internet traffic, there is something to be said about consumption habits and where the attention resides. As a full time videographer in Calgary for 7 years now, I have seen the pie of video content get larger every year in comparison to other forms of content marketing.

Not to say other marketing tools are not important, but in my biased, yet statistically loaded opinion, other forms of content have become mundane and easy to ignore (just like this blog post).

Creating videos is hard, but keeping up with trends is even harder. So here are the top 5 video trends that I foresee to have longevity in 2023:

  1. Pinned Videos

If you understand the landscape of your social platforms, you will know that you are able to pin videos to the top of your page. Now, what you pin can be optimized to allow other Calgarians to know what your business is about. If you have the budget to make these pinned videos with higher production quality, it permits more freedom on your daily posts if you choose to veer off your business niche or participate in trends.

Let me explain.

Higher quality videos are a way to align your business and brand to the professionalism that you portray. It is a way to build authority in your industry.

  1. Going LIVE

As it gets easier to spot advertisements, a structured and routined LIVE session is still one of the best ways to connect with your people. When creating videos for some Calgary businesses, I’ve come to the realization that more consumers are buying based on whether or not they know the people running that business.

  1. UGC (User Generated Content)

For those who don’t know, UGC is when you outsource content creators to create organic content for your business. The strategy here is to pick a few people and stick with them. It is most effective for conversions when there are familiar faces to associate with a brand. Choose the creators wisely.

This way of curating your content will allow you to focus on everything else in your business and finding the right creators means that they will approach with the most effective method.

  1. Website/Landing page Videos

Like I’ve explained earlier, if video content is the bulk of what consumers are accepting, then capitalizing on it at every avenue of your business makes sense. Again, highly produced website videos stay in alignment with the position or perception of your business.

  1. Email Videos

So this falls into the category of “personalized” videos and can be time consuming, but very powerful. A few ideas I’ve filmed and edited for clients are cold-call videos, thank you videos and most recently, a happy holiday video. All personalized videos have a different impact, but because it requires more work, many won’t do it. You can stand out amongst many in your industry with this strategy.

2023 is truly a time to double down on video. Imagine how much you’d stand out in a marketplace when you place human connection through video, a luxury that all your clients and consumers can experience from your business.
